If you run higher boost there is much more pressure put on the rods and pistons, A cast or weaker piston may crack just from the added pressure of 20 lbs of boost where a forged piston can withstand more pressure. If you happen to detonate a little a forged piston will be less likely to crack, A stronger rod will be less likely to bend. Imagine the compression at 25 psi pushing on a cast piston at 7,000 RPM. A built bottom end doesnt make it any better against detonation, nor does it help prevent it.
